Maintaining bridge decks, to make them strong & durable at all times, is a constant struggle for local, state and federal governments. Winter weather is especially hard on bridge decks. Most overlays, used to coat concrete bridge decks, are thin, brittle and crack easily. FLEXOGRID, by Poly-Carb, Inc., is a lightweight, thin co-polymer overlay that is 2x the strength of concrete with surface skid numbers, in excess of 50 (ASTM E524), after years on a New York State bridge deck, plus flexibility to resist cracking in the toughest Minnesota winters, are two of the reasons why FLEXOGRID is the only choice for many of our states DOT’S. Locally, a bridge deck, with the POLY-CARB overlay, on Interstate 20 in St. Clair County, Alabama, has work successfully since 1993. Since that date, 1.5 million sq ft of POLY-CARB for numerous projects in Alabama. have been completed for ALDOT with more ALDOT projects in progress since the beginning of 2006.
